The Seven Principles of Spiritualism in Summary
1. THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD
However, or whatever we perceive God to be, it is ultimately the recognition and acceptance of a higher power that exists within us all. A divine energy and higher being that is the wise creator of all things. We recognise and accept this higher power, this infinite wisdom as God and we acknowledge him as our father.
2. THE BROTHERHOOD OF MAN
We are all as one, belonging to one great unity, part of Gods universal creative force. We readily accept diversity within our 'family' and regardless of race or creed, we offer mutual respect and support for all. To be unselfishly in service or supportive of another, increases our feeling of belonging and will enhance our soul.
3. THE COMMUNION OF SPIRITS AND THE MINISTRY OF ANGELS
Souls are eternal and therefore life everlasting. Those who pass from this world live on into the next, albeit in a different form, and still have the same interests, desires and wisdom to share with us. This is continually evidenced in communication from those passed to Spirit, where they provide evidence of survival and will continue to guide and support us.
4. THE CONTINUOUS EXISTENCE OF THE HUMAN SOUL
Being part of Gods universal creative force, the Spirit continues to live on in the Spirit world long after it leaves the physical body. The Spirit remains unchanged other than from its earthy form. This awareness of an eternal existence will hopefully prevent us from limiting our experiences in this incarnation because we return to Spirit ready to carry our progression through into the next.
5. PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
The whole Philosophy of Spiritualism determines that we are entirely responsible for our own thoughts and actions and how we behave towards others. Our happiness, or misery is entirely dependent on our outlook, our deeds and our thoughts. This awareness of self, this personal responsibility, encourages us to act with a greater sense of duty and care towards those around us and subsequently encourages and supports a better way of life.
6. COMPENSATION AND RETRIBUTION HEREAFTER FOR ALL THE GOOD AND EVIL DEEDS DONE ON EARTH
How we live our lives in this incarnation determines how the soul evolves and moves forward into the next. When we pass to Spirit, depending on our life experiences, we must either atone for our sins and any evil deeds done in this incarnation, or we may advance spiritually. Our own spiritual consciousness will be the judge of whether we are worthy of soul progression or if we should choose a further incarnation in which to evolve.
7. ETERNAL PROGRESS OPEN TO EVERY HUMAN SOUL
There will always be opportunity to progress and move forward. It is the desire of every soul to progress, whether in a physical existence or in the Spirit world, progress is open to all. Progression is never easy and there are as many steps back as there are forward but ultimately a souls purpose is to progress to higher achievements, to advance in wisdom and love, within the all-embracing love of God.
